About The Event
WARNING: In 2015, retail sale of the most poisons were banned, however, licensed pest-control companies, still employ the most toxic of ingredients. These toxins known as second-generation rodenticides are the poisons that are increasingly being reported in wild life throughout California. These anticoagulants cause animals to suffer slowly, dying from the inside out. Predators and pets who eat poisoned animals become ill themselves, often becoming easy prey for other predators.
Please join in welcoming Poison Free Malibu's Joel Schulman
The Poison Free Malibu organization has worked since 2012 on education of the dangers to predators from the use of rat poison & the ecological role they play in controlling rodents. PFM started in the Santa Monica Mountains of southern California where 90% of mountain lions, bobcats, coyotes, raptors and other carnivores have been found to have poison in their systems due to the proximity with urban centers. Dr. Schulman will review the extent of the problem with wildlife, pets, and children, and review the alternatives which have been found to be superior than using poisons.
